Dean was really pleased to take part in an engagement session run by Herts School Outreach at Beechfield School which taught the pupils the importance of recognising emotions and how difficult situations may affect us.
Primary Schools are key to identifying issues early on, such as trauma and psychological conditions. The sessions aim to teach the pupils to become more open and honest about how they feel so the right support can be put in place earlier.
The charity uses an holistic approach and stresses the importance of early intervention as part of their 'Believe in a Better Tomorrow and Beyond' campaign, which Dean will be raising with Ministers through his work on better mental health provision for all.
Michaela and the team are very clearly passionate about supporting young people, and it was great to catch-up with Headteacher Gillian Jackson to hear her thoughts.
It was at Beechfield School where I launched my initiative to train 1,000 residents in Mental Health First Aid Awareness a few years ago as part of my manifesto commitment.
