Pupils from Nascot Wood Junior school were invited to 10 Downing Street to meet with Akshata Murty, accompanied by their local MP Dean Russell.
The visit came after Dean Russell shared a letter from the school’s Head Boy that was addressed to Mrs Murty. Head Boy Jamie explained in his letter to the Prime Minister’s wife that the Junior Leadership Team (JLT) at Nascot Wood had been working really hard this academic year, even giving up some of their break time to assist with tasks such a helping younger pupils with their reading.
He requested a tour of Number 10 for the JLT, and Mrs Murty was more than happy to show them around one of the most famous homes in the world.
Christina Singh, Headteacher at Nascot Wood commented that “We had a wonderful visit and are most grateful to all the staff at number 10, Dean Russell and Mrs Murty for making this possible. “
Dean said “I was really impressed with the letter that Jamie wrote on behalf of the JLT, and it was a pleasure to play a small part in arranging a tour for them. I would like to thank Mrs Murty and the staff at Number 10 for making it happen, as well as the staff at Nascot Wood for accompanying the pupils.
Not many people get to see behind the famous black door of Number 10, so I hope the experience has created a lifelong memory for the children.”
