Dean raised residents, and his, concerns regarding the dangerous and illegal parking outside the Meriden parade of shops in Parliament today the Leader of the House.
To reassure residents he has been raising concerns with relevant officials over a long period of time including early last year when he bought representatives from the various relevant organisations together to the Meriden to show first hand the issues with the parking and other concerns raised to me about road quality etc. He is aware the authorities are trying to find a workable solution and support them in doing this but pressed that urgency is needed as he shared his worries that an accident is waiting to happen.
He is passionate about getting this fixed personally too. He didn’t mention in Parliament but he knows only too well how dangerous bends near shops can be, as he was knocked down himself as a child when growing up in the West Midlands. The incident took place near a bend by a parade of shops. He was lucky he wasn’t seriously hurt but it could have been very different.
Of course parking is already illegal as there are double yellow lines but some drivers seem to be ignoring these. So the next time you, or someone you know, is thinking of parking outside the shops for the sake of convenience please do think again. He is sure no one wants to be the cause of an accident simply for the convenience of parking near the shops.
He will continue to raise the matter and other local concerns and will keep residents who contact him up to date on progress on this and other local matters. If you have any footage or photographs of the dangerous parking that would be helpful to help him continue to raise concerns please do email him on dean@deanrussell.co.uk.
