Following the sad passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore, Watford's MP paid tribute to him in the House of Commons saying
"I would like to join others in paying tribute to Captain Tom. I felt last year that he was almost a grandfather to the nation. We have definitely lost a member of our British family in the last few hours, and I send my condolences to his family. He was truly one of the best of us."
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Capt Sir Tom had been "a symbol of people's resilience during an incredibly difficult year. When the NHS was under pressure during the first lockdown - he didn't just sit at home, he asked the question 'what can I do to help? We should find a way to make sure we mark the memory of Captain Tom and thank him for the contribution he made to the NHS."
