Watford MP Dean Russell joined the 2022 Watford Celebration, which was held in the Atria this year.
Watford Celebration is a colourful annual festival which offers the people of Watford the opportunity to learn about the rich diversity of their town. Ethnic, faith and charitable groups showcase and share each other’s music, dance, drama, costumes, and food offering a wonderful afternoon of entertainment for the whole community.
2022 is a special year as Watford celebrates the centenaries of the signing of the Watford Borough Charter and the formation of Watford Football Club, along with other special anniversaries.
The first Watford Celebration took place in 2005 at the Multi-Cultural Community Centre in West Watford. It was initiated at a meeting between various local groups, where the need for bringing communities together was discussed and Watford Celebration was born: a community event of celebration and friendship.
Speaking after the event Dean said “It was a pleasure to attend the Watford Celebration 2022 in Charter Place. I have always said that one of Watford’s strengths is its rich diversity. We have people from all corners of the globe in Watford, and I think it is really important that we ensure each culture is represented and celebrated. Thank you to the organisers for putting such a fantastic event together.”
