Watford MP Dean Russell attended the Watford's "Forces United" lunch which was held at the West Herts College site on Hempstead Road.
Watford Forces United acts as a forum for Watford charities and Armed Forces personnel and was invited to the lunch by Watford and England legend Luther Blissett.
Also in attendance was Liz Burns, who set up the Veterans’ Support Group Abbots Langley in April 2018 after her husband passed. Cllr Burns not only set up their group to remember her husband who served in the Royal Marines Police Force for 27 years but believed veterans needed a place of comfort after they leave the service. Norman McGuigan from Minds At War and a former veteran also attended.
Speaking after the lunch Dean said “It was on honour to attend the lunch alongside some incredible people. It is fantastic to see the support for our Armed Forces at this time of year."
If you are a veteran or a family member looking for support locally, the Royal British Legion Abbots Langley Branch meets at The Working Mens Club on Trowley Rise, Abbots Langley on the first Monday of the month.
