Watford MP Dean Russell has returned to visit Small Acts of Kindness to support their latest project to pack bags for vulnerable people within the community. The bags can include a fleece blanket, gloves, hat, a face mask, soup, biscuits, hot chocolate, a KIND bar, information pack and an Acts of Kindness Activity Book. During the pandemic, more than 3000 gift bags were given to clinically extremely vulnerable people throughout Hertfordshire.
The charity sources and distributes practical gifts that reduce the impact of feeling lonely and isolated and the impact that this can have on older people's physical and mental health. The ethos of the charity is to connect communities with kindness.
Speaking after the visit Dean said, "Small Acts of Kindness was the first place I visited after I was elected in 2019 and I continue to be grateful for the the exceptional work that they do on a daily basis. Under the stewardship of founder Lynne Misner, the charity has gone from strength to strength and has supported thousands of people. They have deservedly won numerous awards and accolades for their vital service."
Being a volunteer for the charity is very rewarding. If you do have an hour a month to spare, please contact them at www.smallactsofkindness.co.uk/contact. They would be delighted to hear from you and any time that you could donate would be hugely appreciated by those receiving the bags.
