I was overjoyed to attend the presentation of the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK. Local charity Small Acts of Kindness received the award from HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire. CEO and founder Lynne Misner accepted The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, which aims to recognise outstanding work by volunteer groups to benefit their local communities.
I admit to being especially pleased to see Small Acts of Kindness get the recognition they deserved as they were the first charity I volunteered with when I was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Watford and have seen the incredible impact they make across Watford and Hertfordshire. I look forward to supporting Lynne and the team for many years to come.
