Watford MP Dean Russell visited the Peace Garden in Cassiobury Park to attend the unveiling of a new Peace Arch.
Hosted by the Watford Interfaith Association (WIFA) the reception saw the unveiling of a new, vandal-proof arch after the original one was vandalised twice.
Many people associated with WIFA worked really hard to create a new arch after the original one vandalised. Since the original arch was a major part of the interfaith ceremonies that were conducted by the Watford Bridge of Peace, it was important to bring back the arch back to the entrance to the Peace Garden.
Volunteers worked tirelessly to design, construct, weld, and install the new arch. NCS young volunteers, who worked over two weeks in the Peace Garden last summer, kindly donated £600 to help pay for the arch.
Speaking after the unveiling Dean said “It is always a pleasure to come to the beautiful Cassiobury Park. The Peace Garden is a calm, peaceful and tranquil corner of the park. I would like to thank WIFA for maintaining the beautiful grounds, NCS for helping to fund the arch, and to everybody else that has donated their time, or plants or funds to the garden.”
