Watford MP Dean Russell paid a visit to Everett Rovers Football Club as they work to raise funds for a new 3G community football pitch. The club was formed in March 1997 and the Community Centre was named in honour of Bill Everett, a much-loved local man who served as a local councillor and went on to become Mayor of Watford. Everett Rovers are an inclusive and progressive club that facilitates children’s development through football in a positive, friendly and safe environment.
To take the club even further they are currently with the Football Foundation and Hertfordshire County Football Association to build a state-of-the-art floodlit 3G artificial pitch on the Leggatts Playing Fields which everyone will be able to enjoy.
Dean said “It was great to visit the club today, football is a huge part of many people’s lives not just in Watford, but all across the UK and it has a vast global reach. Football is for many people part of their identity, it is their community, their social life, their escape from everyday life and not just beneficial physically, but also mentally. Clubs such as Everett Rovers are so important for young people and I hope to see the club continue to go from strength to strength.”
The club has launched a Just Giving donation page, with any amount warmly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/everettroversfc3G
