During a session of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, Dean Russell asked Professor Whitty a series of questions that have been raised to him about the Omicron Variant and the Plan B COVID measures that have been introduced to provide an opportunity for clarification and, where needed, rebuttals to any misperception surrounding decisions or data.
Dean asked Professor Whitty a question raised on what the proportion of positive cases are against the number of tests taken be reported.
Dean also asked Professor Whitty another question raised by constituents on whether the testing of more young children is contributing to the higher case rates that are being reported in recent days.
Afterwards, Dean then asked Professor Whitty what his response would be to those who are claiming that by the NHS is prioritising COVID treatments over other serious issues such as COVID.
For his final question, Dean asked Professor Whitty how children are being impacted by the Omicron variant compared to the Delta variant.
