Dean Russell MP hosted the Independent Pharmacy Awards in the Houses of Parliament to celebrate the achievements of independent community pharmacies over the past twelve months.
The Independent Pharmacy Awards is an annual event that rewards and celebrates the outstanding work of community pharmacies from across the UK. The categories for the awards included Pharmacy Innovation, Extra Mile Award, Pharmacy Team of the Year, and Independent Pharmacist of the Year.
Dean was pleased to open this year’s event with a short speech in which he paid tribute to the tireless work of pharmacists throughout the pandemic. Also in attendance was the Founder of Sigma Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Bharat Shah CBE, whose family run business is based in Watford, and has been for many years.
Following the event, Dean said: “Our pharmacists have done so much for us over the last 12 months, including administering COVID 19 vaccines and ensuring that the most vulnerable in our society have still been able to access the medicine that they need. It was wonderful to attend this awards ceremony and take the time to celebrate their brilliant work and to thank them for their vital work throughout the pandemic, including the fantastic COVID-19 vaccine roll-out.”
