Watford MP visited the Alternatives charity shop on the High Street to learn more about the organisation and they work that they do to support local parents.
The charity launched in 2002, and chose the name ‘Alternatives’ to highlight that, for those facing pregnancy-related challenges, they exist to provide alternatives. Their core aim is to offer life-changing emotional and practical support for anyone facing pregnancy-related challenges.
Following a very successful period in Watford, Alternatives opened a second Pregnancy Support Centre and Mother & Baby Charity Shop in Hemel Hempstead in October 2019.
A representative from the charity commented that “We at Alternatives really appreciate Dean taking the time out to visit and it was great to share the excellent work we are doing in the community.”
Speaking at the visit Dean said “It was fantastic to learn about the work that Alternatives does to support local residents facing pregnancy challenges. They offer really good quality second hand clothes, equipment, toys and books for babies and for mums-to-be, and I would like to put on record my thanks to all the staff and volunteers.
The income they make from the shop helps support their invaluable counselling services, so if you have items to donate please do consider giving to Alternatives.”
