Dean Russell attended the 25th Anniversary of the Watford Chinese Community School. The event took place at the James Theatre, located at Watford Boys Grammar, where the school has been providing invaluable educational and cultural opportunities to the community.
The Watford Chinese Community School, established in 1998 with just 56 pupils, has grown significantly over the years and now boasts a student body of over 200. The school has been a focal point for those interested in learning Cantonese and Mandarin, as well as gaining insights into Chinese culture and traditions. The school is a self funded organisation, and relies on modest school fees and fundraising events, with all proceeds going directly toward sustaining its operations and enriching the educational experience for its students.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Dean had a privilege of presenting certificates to the pupils at the end of their academic year. This showcased the achievements and hard work of the students.
Following the event, Dean commented, ‘I would like to thank Peony for her very kind invitation to attend this important community event today. I was very pleased to present the awards to the students and talk to them about how much they are enjoying the classes. The school not only serves the Chinese Community in Watford, but provides an open and inclusive environment for anyone interested in expanding their language skills and cultural knowledge. Watford's diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and having such a valuable offering within our town is truly fantastic’.
