Cherry Tree Primary School in Watford were invited to visit Number 10 for a special Lessons at 10, hosted by Mrs Murty, the Prime Minister's wife. This special opportunity allowed the pupils to see what goes on behind the scenes of the famous black door of 10 Downing Street.
Lessons at 10 is an initiative founded by Mrs Murty, aimed at bringing education to life and inspiring children from across the UK. Partnering with industry experts, charities and special guests, Lessons at 10 seeks to encourage a love for learning and provide memorable experiences for children.
In celebration of Red Nose Day, the theme for this session revolved around supporting charitable causes. Waves Music Therapy, supported by Comic Relief, delivered a session from their rapper in residence project. This project aimed to help children express themselves through music and to build confidence and enjoyment.
Following the session, Dean said, "I am delighted that Cherry Tree were invited to Number 10, it was such a unique experience for the children. It was a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to step inside the iconic Number 10 Downing Street and take part in a lesson."
Sixteen children from Year 5 and Year 6 were selected to participate in the session.
Cheska Tyler, Headteacher said, ‘We are incredibly excited to have received an invite for our children to attend No 10 Downing Street to take part in a Lesson at 10 hosted by Mrs Murty, the Prime Minister's wife. To give our children an opportunity like this, to stand inside the building where the Prime Minister lives and works is truly inspirational for them and could open up a world of opportunity!'
