I have been campaigning hard for Bushey Station to become fully accessible for all passengers, including those with disabilities and mobility issues for many years.
I recently met with the rail companies to discuss issues raised with me by local residents.
I am pleased to advise that Bushey Station has been earmarked for funding from the Government’s Access for All Programme, subject to further consideration of feasibility, affordability and value. This programme was launched by the Department for Transport and aims to make railway stations in Watford, and across the UK, more accessible by providing funds for key improvements.
Over the years, residents have raised with me their concerns about the large gap between the train and the platform here. Everyone needs to have the right to access public transport and this funding will help so much.
