Westminster Forum Projects organise senior-level conferences on a wide range of public policy areas. None of the forums has a policy agenda of its own, other than simply to raise the quality of debate on public policy developments and so create opportunities for informed discussion.
Each WFP forum is structured to facilitate the formulation of 'best' public policy by providing policymakers and implementers, and those with an interest in the issues, with a sense of the way different stakeholder perspectives interrelate.
The focus for this conference was looking at priorities for future intellectual property and copyright regulation in the UK. The discussion took place against the backdrop of policy initiatives aimed at reforming intellectual property, the design framework, and copyright regulation.
Speaking after the event the MP for Watford said “This morning provided a great opportunity to look at the evolving framework following Brexit, particularly regulation of IP and copyright going forward. We also spoke about creating an accessible design system that supports innovation and right protection and the government’s plans to improve IP education outreach to the business and research communities. It was a really well organised event, and it was an honour to be asked to act as Chair.”
The virtual event included keynote sessions with Tim Moss, Chief Executive Officer and Comptroller General, Intellectual Property Office and William Bush, Senior Adviser to the Premier League. There were also contributions from ACID, BT, HarperCollins and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
