Watford MP Dean Russell joined that Abbots Langley Poppy Appeal (ALPA) team, who are hoping this year will be their biggest and best yet. Dean volunteered with the group last year, as the ALPA raised an impressive £14,500.
Following last year’s success, the MP once again joined the hard-working team of poppy appeal volunteers this year. He stood alongside ALPA outside Abbots Langley post office, helping boost the coffers of the appeal. All of the money raised will go to the Royal British Legion.
Les Vertessy, from ALPA, told AbbotsNews: “It’s great to once again have the support of Dean Russell MP. Last year we raised £14,500 which is a great amount and shows how lucky we are to have such generous people in our community.
We are hoping to make it more this year although we do recognise the financial constraints people are under at this time. All donations gratefully received.”
Dean Russell MP said “I would like to thank Les and his team of wonderful local volunteers who devote so much of their time to supporting this incredible cause, which is close to all our hearts. The Armed Forces community make tremendous sacrifices and I am always proud to support their work.
Wearing a poppy really shows the armed forces community, both past and present how we admire their service to our country. I hope everyone can support the Poppy Appeal this year if they are able to.”
