Watford MP Dean Russell visited local charity One Vision earlier this week to celebrate South Asian Heritage Month.
South Asian Heritage Month first took place in 2020 and runs from 18th July to 17th August each year. SAHM seeks to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian cultures, histories and communities. It seeks to understand the diverse heritage and cultures that continue to link the UK with South Asia.
As a charity, one of One Vision’s aims is to ‘Bring People and Communities Together’ and enable those they work and engage with to thrive by building connections and collaborations across communities.
The meeting that they hosted was attended by different community representatives and leaders from the local area, building trust and encouraging discussion on ways to ensure that Hertfordshire-based South Asians are visible, have their voices heard and their achievements and contributions celebrated.
Speaking after the meeting Dean said that “One of Watford’s strengths is its diversity. We have people from every corner of the globe living, working and studying in Watford. It is really important that the contribution of each culture is celebrated.
"One Vision is brilliant at bringing people from all backgrounds together as one community. The meeting that they arranged was really well attended, and it was a great success.”
