Watford MP Dean Russell joined Poppy Appeal volunteers in the ASDA store in Watford to help raise funds for the Royal British Legion (RBL).
Poppy Appeal Volunteers are the face of RBL during the Poppy Appeal and help collect donations whilst distributing thousands of poppies across the country. Each year thousands of volunteers can be found on high streets, train stations and local supermarkets across the country as they help to raise vital funds.
Dean Russell MP said "I would like to thank Tony and his team of hard-working local volunteers who give up so much of their own time to supporting the Poppy Appeal, which is close to all our hearts. The Armed Forces community make tremendous sacrifices and I am always proud to support their work.
Wearing a poppy really shows the armed forces community, both past and present that we are grateful for their service to our country. It represents all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day. I hope everyone can support the Poppy Appeal, any donation that you can make really does help the cause.”
It also honours the contribution of civilian services and the uniformed services which contribute to national peace and security and acknowledges innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of terrorism.
