Watford MP Dean Russell visited the Garston Fire Station in Watford to meet the staff and to find out more about the work that they do around community awareness.
During the visit, Dean was invited to call the control room and do a radio check.
Following the event, Dean said, “It was great to meet the team at Garston Fire Station. I want to put on record my thanks for their work in response to the record setting temperatures this summer. The heatwave was a test of our resilience and contingency planning. I know there were significant challenges locally in some of our open field, and I am proud that fire services across the country rose to the challenge so successfully.
They work really hard all year round helping to ensure that people are aware of potential fire risks within the home, and education people on what can be done in order to reduce or prevent these risks.”
