As part of their annual national investment programme, the Stonegate Group has invested a six-figure sum in the Wishing Well Watford, also renaming it to the Cother Arms. Stonegate operates a number of sites in the Watford constituency, including The Partridge in Oxhey, Prince George, Walkabout, Rifle Volunteer, The Horns to name a few.
The pub re-opened a few weeks ago and invited local MP Dean Russell to see the work that had been done at the site.
Speaking after the visit Dean said: "The pub contributes to the livelihoods of a number my constituents, helping to drive the local economy, and providing a social hub for the area. Overall Stonegate employs 16,000 in its managed estate alone. The career opportunities they offer are so varied and the training and apprenticeships which they provide help to ensure that staff can progress in the sector.
"The British pub industry is a huge part of our national culture and history. When people think of the UK they often think of our many pubs. It is important that this sector is supported not just through overcoming the pandemic, but also managing the cost-of-living increases.
"It was a pleasure to visit Cother Arms and I look forward to returning soon."
