Dean Russell spent the morning with Watford Workshop, a proud workplace which strives to provide a pathway into employment for adults with disabilities who face barriers to mainstream work. The workforce learn vital social skills and obtain valuable experience on the workshop floor where they provide assembly commercial services for a wide variety of customer projects.
Dean commented, "Having employment such as this can have a massive positive difference to someone's mental health and wellbeing. I was so pleased to visit the brilliant Watford Workshop and meet the fantastic staff who work hard every day to fulfil orders. The work which goes on at the Workshop is exciting and I am proud that products made in Watford are sent UK wide."
Gill Nightingale, Partnership Manager said, "We were delighted to finally welcome Dean to Watford Workshop after his initial planned visit back in March 2020 was thwarted due to the pandemic but it was well worth the wait. Dean was incredibly friendly, open and candid and we all thoroughly enjoyed his time with us. It is clear that Dean has a genuine passion in helping the constituents he serves as well as an understanding of the challenges faced by adults with disabilities. He recognised how incredibly fortunate the Watford disability community are to have the precious resource that is Watford Workshop and the opportunities we can provide especially as there are now so few remaining sheltered workshops in the UK. After our meeting, we all felt completely confident that should we ever need any support, Dean would do all he possibly could to help."
