- Health and Social Care Committee
Purpose of the session
It was the final session in the inquiry into social care funding and workforce which aimed to establish how much extra money the Government needs to allocate to social care if pressures on the NHS are to be reduced. As well as future funding, the session also focused on wider reform of the sector, its workforce and the recruitment of workers from overseas.
Representatives of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services and the Local Government Association also gave evidence. The inquiry has taken a broad range of evidence in previous sessions including the experiences of those who depend on social care and heard from economist Sir Andrew Dilnot, the architect of planned reforms on its funding.
The Committee also put questions to the Secretary of State relating to its ongoing health and social care inquiries.
