The Love Your Selfie Pop Up Event is currently taking place in the Atria in Watford. There are nine selfie rooms which have been decorated with fun in mind which will be enjoyed by those who enjoy taking selfies of themselves, their friends and family.
Watford family Simon and Laura Macqueen joined forces with charity Alice’s Arc after their daughter, Jessica, 9, died from Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). Jessica’s Arc was launched following her death in 2019, and Dean previously spoke about Jessica during a debate in Parliament on childhood cancer.
This fundraising initiative is in memory of Jessica, and all the monies raised will be donated to Jessica's Arc, which is part of the Alice's Arc Cancer Charity - https://www.alicesarc.org.
There is a clear pink theme, as this was Jessica's favourite colour, and each of the pods has a different theme which range from the Rubik's cube design to the melting lollies painted onto the walls. If visitor’s upload a selfie, they can win gift vouchers which range from £100 to £600.
After his visit, Watford MP Dean Russell said, "It was really nice to meet with Jessica's mum Laura, who was joined by Natalie, who’s son Freddie also has an arc, having lost his battle with cancer in 2018 aged just 5. This initiative is raising funds, but also awareness of Jessica's Arc and Alice's Arc Cancer Charity. Childhood cancer is the biggest killer of children, and much more needs to be done around informing people of what to look out for and common symptoms.
"I would like to thank the Atria for putting it together, and the retailers who have been so generous with offering discounts and huge voucher prizes. The event will run for a few days extra as it has been very popular. So if you’re in town please do pop in, if you don’t have time to take a look around you can make a donation.”
