Watford MP Dean Russell visited Hilton’s regional office to meet the staff and to discuss his Tips Bill as well as the company’s future plans as they recover from the pandemic.
Hilton’s regional office for Europe, Middle East and Africa is based in Reeds Crescent and employs close to 600 people.
Hilton is a global hospitality company operating nearly 7,000 hotels in more than 120 countries. There are over 160 hotels across the UK belonging to Hilton’s family of brands, employing more than 14,500 people. An additional 31 properties are scheduled to open in the next three to five years.
Speaking after the visit Dean said: “Hilton is a major local employer, as well as a globally recognised company. It was fantastic to learn of their plans to expand, despite the challenges presented to the hospitality sector in recent years.
"I am also delighted to have their support for my Tips Bill. Hilton is an exemplary employer, they are investing heavily in recruitment, increasing pay and offering dozens of types of apprenticeships, from personal training to engineering. Their staff already receive 100% of the tips intended for them and are a fantastic example of a responsible employer, and I am delighted that they are based in Watford.”
Steve Cassidy, Managing Director, UK&I, Hilton “It was great to welcome Dean and introduce him to our Watford team. We are really grateful for his continued support and focus on the hospitality sector particularly as we emerge from the pandemic. As demand returns to our UK business, we want to attract top talent and showcase the fantastic opportunities a career in hospitality offers. We have many exciting positions available throughout our UK hotels as well as at corporate level right here in Watford.”
