Connecting Communities Report

Dean has been a volunteer and active in the charity sector for many years. During the pandemic Dean joined so many across Watford to volunteer regularly with various community groups. Dean was a regular volunteer at Watford General Hospital during the pandemic, and even did a shift on Christmas Day.

He has spent time with many local charities New Hope, Watford Workshop, Hand on Heart, Goods for Good, One Vision (where he is also a trustee) Little Village, Random Café, The Akshaya Patra Foundation UK, Watford Salvation Army, the British Heart Foundation and the RSPCA to name just a few.

Dean used his skills as an artist to raise money for local NHS charity 'Raise' and supporting the local community fund by painting Watford FC legend Luther Blissett and the great British hero Sir Captain Tom.

Dean has also been raising the importance of volunteering in Parliament and with colleagues through his articles, speeches and reports to encourage community engagement and volunteering across the UK.

Dean conducted a survey during lockdown to find out local views about community and volunteering.  The resulting 'Connecting Communities' report can be found on the community and volunteering page here'
